Top Tens Off All Time (4)

Astazi va prezentam clasamentul celor mai bune melodii ale tuturor timpurilor in viziunea lui Chris Cheney ( Official website ) :

1.Bruce Springsteen – Born To Run
One of THE great rock’n’roll anthems. Here’s what your gonna do……Step 1: Put this song on a large stereo. Step 2: turn large stereo volume up no quieter than 9. Step 3: stand back and behold. If at the conclusion of the track you are not ready to take on the world then you are not human. Repeat steps 1-3 as often as needed.

2.Stray Cats – Rock This Town
One of the songs that clarified my future. I knew what I wanted to do after hearing this song. As cool as it gets.

3.The Beatles – A Day In The Life
A beautiful, haunting, majestic piece of art. A symphony in a song.

4.Eddie Cochran – Summertime Blues
Killer guitar riff that planted the seed for punk rock. I love that it’s got this political overtone in lines like “I called my congressman and he said whoa! I’d like to help you son but your too young to vote”. Up until that point, Rock’n’roll lyrics as a rule were never really that deep and I think Eddie summed up the frustration of a generation of teenagers with that one line.

5.Michael Jackson – Thriller
I wanted to be Michael jackson when I was 7 years old. I don’t anymore. He was absolutely incredible though, a mad genius.

6.Elvis Presley – Hound Dog
I wanted to be Elvis when I was 14 years old. I still do.

7.Elton John – Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
My parents played this record to death when I was a little kid. I love it because it reminds me of those days and also it’s just a beautifully written song from a masterpiece of a record.

8.Cold Chisel – You Got Nothin’ I Want
To me this is like intelligent punk rock. Chisel? Punk Rock? What?? I know, but you think about it, they had more energy, aggression and balls than most of the so-called punk rock posers around today. They were also incredible players.

9.Dion Demucci – Abraham, Martin and John
I love all of Dions stuff from his 50’s doowop days but i especially love his 70’s solo records. This song has so much emotion and is about the tragically early deaths of Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King and John F Kennedy. Three men who seemed to offer so much hope for the future but were cut down before they really had a chance to prove themselves.

10.Neil Finn – Private Universe
Neil Finn’s songwriting is just inspiring. All his songs sound effortless and so personal but they relate to us all. I challenge him to write a dud.
